Challenges
Any IT Solutions to improve life in Cyprus
#1Cyprus is at the forefront of new technologies and integrates innovations at a rapid pace. Let’s contribute to this process and make life in Cyprus more comfortable and technologically advanced.
Hello!
Cyprus is at the forefront of new technologies and integrates innovations at a rapid pace. Let’s contribute to this process and make life in Cyprus more comfortable and technologically advanced.
As part of this task, any ideas aimed at developing IT solutions in Cyprus are welcomed.
Maybe you could make an app or a website with locations of the best coffee shops? Or you will come up with a convenient FAQ containing answers to all questions for those who have just moved to Cyprus?
Or maybe you know how to create a handy app to schedule appointments at a government office?
Show us what you got – waiting for your ideas!
Internet Advertising Innovations
#2We're innovating AdTech for over 11 years, and we invite you to join. Offer a new solution in the field of digital advertising of goods and services, and implement it. A new advertising format or a new way of promoting in social networks? It's up to you!
This is the most creative task because you can develop something completely new, unusual, and innovative in the advertising technologies sphere.
Something that keeps up with modern trends, perhaps in the User Privacy area - cookies will disappear; what are we going to do? Or, in the field of CTV Ads - how to effectively display ads on TV?
Or maybe you can come up with a new advertising format, both a classic display one and something non-standard and new - such as advertising in a captcha.
Perhaps you will cover the gaming industry, which is gaining momentum every year, and you will be able to offer a new monetization solution for GameDev, something from the field of advertising.
Perhaps you can come up with a new mechanism for advertising e-commerce or any other niche. After all, goods were bought, are being bought, and will be bought. How can we increase the conversion rate here? Maybe create some unique smart landing pages?
By the way, landing pages are one of the pain points for advertisers. Coming up with a good creative or landing page that will show good results in terms of CTR and conversion rate is not an easy task. Perhaps you can help with this!
It is also crucial to mention the in-app market, which is actively developing every year and is an excellent platform for online advertising. Shall we do something new and creative here?
Mobile App with Maximum Potential to Monetize its Audience
#3Come up with and develop a new mobile application for monetization through digital advertising. We will share our vision of promising verticals and market benchmarks in terms of cost of acquisition and monetization. Your goal is to create the most promising application with a unique idea, mechanics and design. You can choose iOS or Android or both platforms, as you wish.
Hello!
In this challenge, you can create a mobile app showing exceptional monetization potential via advertising channels.
The app can be developed for any platform: iOS/Android or both at once.
You can create a utility app, game, or something else. According to our experience, various utility apps, such as VPN, cleaners, QR scanners, etc., tend to show the best results in terms of monetization and are easy to develop and launch.
But it’s up to you! Perhaps you can make a catchy game or something else that will grab users’ attention. Most importantly, your app must be optimized for monetization through displaying ads. Monetization through paid subscriptions can be considered extra income.
The mechanics behind these apps implies that ad views cover the user acquisition costs. It can be achieved by managing the LTV of users and ad frequency per session.
Recommendation Algorithm
#4Develop the most efficient recommendation algorithm based on a real world dataset. You have to analyze the user behavior of the news website and how they interact with the push messages sent to them. Predict when, what, and to whom to send notifications to bring the maximum number of users to the site with the minimum number of messages sent.
Hello!
One of AdTech Holding’s projects is Notix. Notix is a Push Service solution that helps websites and businesses effectively reach and engage their audiences by providing best-of-class notification delivery rates, easy scalability, and optional additional monetization.
Many of its clients are news sites searching for the best and most relevant content to be delivered to their users throughout the day, selecting amongst the tens of thousands of different options.
Push Service allows its customers to integrate news feed and deliver it on schedule via web or mobile push notifications. After interaction with the notification (click), users are redirected to the website.
In this challenge, we invite you to develop a personalized news recommendation algorithm based on the Push Service data from previous push impressions, user behavior on the website, and web page content data.
There are no limitations on algorithms or machine learning models that you can use for this task.
Evaluation
Your goal is to predict whether users will click on Push Notifications and how long they will spend on the news site after the click.
Submissions should be made in the form of:
- Python script or Jupyter Notebook that shows your explorative ideas and final code used to train a machine learning model
- CSV file containing your model predictions on the test data
More details on the evaluation metrics and submission file format will be available for participating teams in HACKAdTech Slack channels closer to the start of the hackathon.

What is a Hackathon?
A Hackathon is only the most exclusive event, where programmers and people passionate about software development put their minds together. Such an event takes place over 1-3 days during which the talented participants must come up with ideas, and create various applications or solutions for the problem given.
What is AdTech?
The name itself is an umbrella term that comes from advertising technology. This industry revolves around all the software and tools advertisers, agencies, publishers, and other industry players use to analyze, plan, manage, and deliver their advertising and monetization strategies.
Who can participate in HackAdTech Hackathon?
Everybody that is good at programming and can develop applications for the AdTech industry can participate. And here we include: designers, content specialists, programmers, analysts, or even aspiring specialists such as students or people that are passionate about this industry.
Yet, although you don’t have to be a programmer to participate, you must make sure to include one in your team in order to qualify.
What is the deadline for the registration?
The deadline for registration is 20 November 2022. The competition starts on 26 November 2022.
How will the Hackathon teams be made?
A team consists of 1-5 individuals, out of which at least one must be a developer. You can register in the Hackathon with your ready-made team by pitching an idea. Or sign up to join a team, based on your skills.
Can I join the competition with my ready-made team?
Yes, you can join the HackAdTech competition with your existing team by pitching an idea. Just keep in mind that you have to create the prototype during the two-day competition, and not earlier. Otherwise, you could be disqualified.
What if I don’t have a team?
You can still apply. In fact, during the registration process, you can choose to enter the competition with your team (as the team leader), or ask to join a team based on the particular set of skills you possess.
Do all the team members have to be physically present at the competition?
The teams participating in the competition should be physically present at the venue (Limassol Parklane Hotel, Cyprus) at all times during the competition schedule, but some of their members can join remotely by prior agreement with the organizers.
